Doctors surgeries pass CQC inspection. It’s a high five for Sick and Span

High 5 linked

Trust me I’m a doctor!!!

Doctors surgeries pass CQC inspection.

It’s been a busy year for medical practices in Chester. There are five medical practices we clean. All have had been inspected by the CQC and all 5 have passed with flying colours.

CQC stands for Care Quality Commission (read more at  They are an independent regulator of health and adult social care in England. CQC make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care and we encourage care services to improve.

The inspectors look across the board at how the practices are run and controlled.  Cleaning forms a part of it but none the less an important and essential part in the running of the practice.

COSHH reports are supplied on all the cleaning material.  Bio degradable chemicals are supplied by Clover Chemicals from Yorkshire.  We use a range of their products but in general most of the cleaning is covered by, Freshenit for the toilets and sanitary wear. Floorit for the floors and Fresh Wild Lemon which has a bacterial agent and kills up to 99.9 percent of MRSA.  For stuborn body fats we use Virosol.  And a product called Spay and Wipe which is also left in the doctors consulting rooms.  Mops and buckets are colour co-ordinated for specific areas within the practice with visual memoires to aid the cleaners in the correct usage.

How is Spick and Span helping

Training is given to all cleaners in the correct usage of cleaning chemicals and in their application.  It’s an ongoing programme. Visual aids and documentation are always on display to remind them. Health and Safety is also given on a continuous basis as Karen our supervisor and Ian our Health and Safety officer are visiting the calls and staff on a regular basis.
